Even when it causes no pain, a missing tooth has consequences for the whole mouth, and those consequences are worth preventing.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What happens when a tooth is missing<\/h2><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The neighbouring teeth no longer touch: they <strong>tilt<\/strong> and eventually <strong>come loose<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The gaps become <strong>food traps<\/strong> that cause decay.<\/li><li>The opposing teeth <strong>drift down or up<\/strong> and come loose in turn.<\/li><li>A <strong>pocket<\/strong> forms between the bone and the roots of the neighbouring teeth.<\/li><li>The <strong>bone shrinks away<\/strong> because there is no longer a root.<\/li><li><strong>Chewing becomes unbalanced<\/strong>, with most of the work done on the opposite side.<\/li><\/ul><blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>A dental arch is like an architectural arch: if one stone is removed, the whole vault collapses.<\/p><\/blockquote><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can be done?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything must be done to <strong>save your teeth<\/strong>.
