A gum graft treats these defects in the shape and position of the gum, protecting the tooth and reducing sensitivity.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why have a graft?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lack of gum around a tooth has several consequences:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A <strong>risk of the tooth loosening<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Marked sensitivity<\/strong> to heat, cold and sweet food.<\/li><li>An <strong>aesthetic problem<\/strong>, especially on the visible teeth.<\/li><\/ul><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does a graft work?<\/h2><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dentist takes a small amount of gum tissue from the <strong>palate<\/strong>, then attaches it around one or more teeth with recession.
