Your dentist and their dental technician have combined all their skills to provide you with a well-fitted denture. It is important that you are happy from the outset with both how it looks and how it stays in place.
The first sensations
In the early days you will probably notice a number of inconveniences:
- Your tongue has less room.
- Increased salivation.
- A change in your speech.
- Food tasting less flavourful.
- Uncomfortable pressure on the gums, which may increase while chewing.
All of this is normal during the first week. After a few days your tongue will get used to the space taken up by your new denture, salivation will return to normal and the speech difficulties will disappear.
To make things easier, try reading aloud for 10 minutes during the first few days to speed up the adjustment.
Daily care
- Take your denture out after every meal and clean it with a special denture brush and Marseille soap.
- Every evening, place your denture in a glass of clean water. It is important that the acrylic parts are covered by the water.
- To disinfect the denture, leave it in a mouthwash solution for 15 minutes once a month.
