“Overhanging” crowns

It is completely painless!

Older crowns were fitted over the teeth with an “over-contour”, meaning they overhang the tooth.

This leads to decay underneath and bad breath, because food breaks down beneath the crown.

It is painless because the roots have lost their sensitivity. If you wait, the crown will eventually come off and the roots will have to be extracted: the tooth is then lost.

Why replace an overhanging crown?

There is a gap where food gets trapped, out of reach of your toothbrush.

How does it work?

Painlessly, we remove the old crown, then create a precise, properly sealed preparation on which the new crown will sit.

The new crown is good for years to come: sealed against bacteria and strong, because you can now brush it properly!
